Link is a three week internship that almost finishes up the school year for juniors in Animas Highschool. What the intention of the internships is to allow students to experience a career they may be interested in. It's also to help them gauge whether its a career for them or if they might want to explore different careers. The three week they spend at the internship will teach them new skills and either grow some they needed to improve on or it will introduce skills to them they need to work on.
I worked with a company called AMD Architecture, they were a firm that was in Denver, Colorado about six hours away from my house. I did a remote internship with them, they were at the time when doing my internship designing the new school for Animas Highschool.
The project that I had done in my time with them was drafting and Idea for an addition they could make to the school as a design. My idea was for outdoors charging stations so students could enjoy being outside while working on their electronic devices or indulging in fun activities on them during breaks. The design process consisted of writing a drafting plan, finding images that will inspire the look of your final product, illustrating a few ideas, choosing one of the ideas you illustrated to really flesh it out and then to model it into a program called SketchUp. We had meetings consistently throughout the weeks varying from one everyday to one every other day and they lasted from thirty minutes to two hours.
In reflection to the internship I feel I enjoyed the internship a lot, it gave me a lot to experience and enjoy. I went into it feeling fairly confident because  had some skills I could bring to the table and apply to the internship and job. I enjoy drawing and designing things and to add on I had previously had worked and had some education on the field of electrical contracting so applying common knowledge from that to my charging station aided me a lot. In hindsight I didn't just bring skills the the table I knew but I also learned some new ones such as trying to prioritize important tasks and trying to meet a deadline. Through challenges I faced within my internship I learned how to explore more with creative freedom with only certain restrictions I had already kept within my mind. Most important of all in facing these challenges I had my mentors who aided and taught me very well on how to overcome things. They're and excellent team of people who know how to teach new people to the job, I highly recommend offering them as a LINK internship again next year for the next generation of juniors. They have also aided me just through the generally good experience on what I want to do with my life for college and after so I know what career I want to invest in for my life.
